How we Help
HSPC PROGRAMS
Here are just a few of the initiatives of the Human Services Planning Council (HSPC), or on which the HSPC is participating:
- Thriving Youth: Connected Community In the fall of 2008, Darien students in middle and high school participated in an asset based survey. In response to the survey, the Human Services Planning Council and community partners will be working to strengthen assets among our youth in town through a collaboration called the Thriving Youth Task Force.. To see results of the survey go the ASSET SURVEY. For more information and other resources related to asset building go to: The Search Institute and the Connecticut Assets Network. Go to our Thriving Youth web page to learn what asset you can start working on today.
- Aging in Place The Community Fund launched Aging in Place in Darien, AIP, after two years of investigation by an HSPC subcommittee, Senior summit and focus groups, to help all seniors in our town to live independently, comfortably and with dignity in their own homes as long as possible. Aging in Place in Darien has joined forces with Gallivant and they are in the process of becoming a single nonprofit organization. For more information go to: www.aginginplacegallivant.org
- Mental Health Assessment in Darien A subcommittee of the HSPC has prepared the document “Creating Connections Mental Health & Support Services for the Darien Community” available to agencies and individuals for services and opportunities.
