THE COMMUNITY FUND OF DARIEN HAS ALLOCATED OVER $700,000 IN GRANTS

The Board of Directors of The Community Fund of Darien is proud to announce the distribution of more than $700,000 to 30 agencies in Darien, Stamford and Norwalk during 2008-2009.  These grants are the culmination of two months of work by over 50 local volunteers who reviewed applications and made site visits with agency staff and volunteers to assure that our donors funds are wisely and responsibly spent to provide critical services to those in need.

In the past year TCF has also distributed an additional $12,200 through its "Touch a Life Fund", $13,400 in small grants and $24,000 in donor designated contributions.

       at Pear Tree Point Beach.

Now in it's 29th year, the Darien Road Race has raised over $800,000.  This year the Race benefits The Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital, The Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital and The Community Fund of Darien.

The Community Fund of Darien is an independent,  local, volunteer-driven organization that addresses health and human service needs in the greater Darien region. The mission of the Community Fund of Darien is to enhance the capacity of community members to care for one another by:

• Assisting the community to identify and prioritize its needs (Human Services Planning Council)

• Keeping the Community informed about those needs (Human Services Planning Council & Campaign)

• Providing cost effective fundraising (Campaign)

• Distributing funds to meet identified community needs (Allocations)

• Assuring accountability of human service providers (Allocations)

• Fostering coordinated and cooperative efforts to deliver services (Allocations & Human Services Planning Council)
