Featured on Only in Your State website and written by Rebecca van Sambeck Connecticut is a state covered in lush verdant forests, and if you’d like to get an eyeful of all that greenery (or even better, the colorful changing leaves of fall or snow-tipped wonderland of winter), you’ll need to hike a high peak. Naturally, that means hiking the highest peak in Connecticut, which is Bear Mountain.
Located in Salisbury and part of the Taconic Mountains, Bear Mountain has an elevation of 2,323 feet. Sure, that doesn’t exactly make it a whopper of a mountain in comparison to other states, but it’s still quite high up and offers jaw-dropping, gorgeous views of Connecticut. The five-mile loop trail to access the peak lookout point is rated as moderate by AllTrails, so don’t underestimate it!
